The BRITISH COUNCIL is pleased to announce that the application form for the ELTons 2009 is now live. Now in their seventh year we would like to encourage you to enter the ELTons 2009. The awards promote and reward excellence in English Language teaching and give you the opportunity to win recognition and a cash prize of GBP 1,000.
1) We are looking for examples of groundbreaking UK English language products in the following areas:
- ELT research: e.g. academic publications; dissertations; schemes of research; Classroom-based action research
- ELT materials: e.g. coursebooks, supplementary materials; resource books for teachers
- ELT products and services: e.g. English language courses, examinations.
The awards are open to a range of people working across the whole spectrum of ELT as demonstrated by last year's excellent winners.
2) We also welcome entries connected to ELT research. Resources/courses for English language teacher training/development are also eligible; however, candidates will be required to demonstrate that their product is of direct benefit to learners of English.
3) There are three award winners in the UK category and one in the International category each of whom will receive a prize of GBP 1000.
4) Additionally, institutions which have supported winners and runners-up will be featured in special materials which will be used to promote UK English language teaching through British Council offices round the world.
This is the seventh year of the awards. For more information on the awards and to access the user-friendly online application form go to:
