MATE-Agadir Forum Editorial--SEP 2009
Dear Colleagues,
Here we are again for a new school year. First, I would like to wish you and all Muslims all over the world a happy and blessed Ramadan. I hope also that you have enjoyed your holidays and that you are ready to start another school year with much strength and confidence to accomplish your noble mission.
This year in Morocco is remarkable with the beiginning of the implementation of the "Emergency Plan 2009-2012", a plan which has an objective to overcome the lateness in the reform process of our educational system. Personally, I have to confess, that I have no positive expectations from the "Emergency plan". We, as teachers, we know clearly that those people over there, who are sitting in those cosy offices, do not really have that intention to better things.
In my point of view, our educational system do not really need those huge amounts of money, we spend every year for nothing. And does not need those loaded documents full of decisions which they do not really know the real need. What we really need is building back trust in the moroccan school and the Moroccan teacher. we need to rise the awareness of families, how important education is good for their children. and the most important let the field to its proper owners.
Two days ago, I have watched a program in which an arab presenter visited a Japanese school. and i was about to cry, when I saw how great is the moral position of the teacher, in the eyes of the learners, and the families. I compared it to our system and guess what!!! NO COMMENT!!!
Any way dear colleagues, Happy Ramadan and happy Baginning of the school year with all my best wishes and nice regards. I hope also that you use this plat form to share ideas and discuss ELT issues. Waiting for you
