salam from the UK
I am currently working as a tutor in Accounting in a private college in England as well as a marker for related exams. I have been teaching students aged 16+ since 2004 but without a teaching qualification as it is my qualification as a Chartered Accountant which is required in order to teach the courses I provide. This has included teaching some courses tailored specifically to students with English as a Foreign Language.
I am planning on taking an EFL course shortly (you may be able to advise whether the course provided by the language house in marrakesh or any other courses provided in Morocco would be regarded favourably by your local schools as I believe it would be beneficial for me to take the TEFL course in the country I plan to teach in rather than here in the UK. Once I have completed this course I plan to relocate to Agadir and hope to gain employment teaching English as a Foreign Language.
In the meantime if there are any resources or information I can provide to your members from the UK I am happy to do so.
Kind Regards
Helen Webster

Re: salam from the UK
Hello Helew,
Welcome to the MATE-Agadir Forum. we are glad you are here among the moroccan ELT community and we hope that you are going to be an active member. On my part I wish good lmuck in the teaching career, and i would advise you to sit for a CELTA exam either there in UK or Morocco throught the British council in Rabat or Casablanca. The CELTA is a certificate that will allow you to teach English as a foreign language here or any where else. for more information please visit the link below. and I am here for any further information

Re: salam from the UK
IThank you for the welcome.
I am aware the British council runs the CELTA course but have missed the recent deadline for the upcoming course and am not sure how regularly these are run. I will certainly be looking into this. Although the TEFL Language House course does not result in a CELTA certificate I believe the syllabus is comparable and also offers the opportunity for teaching experience with younger learners as well as adult learners. As my teaching background has been with adults to date, experience with younger learners would be beneficial for me. I also wish to study for the qualification in Morocco rather than the UK as the costs are comparable but I will also be benefitting from orientation in Morocco during this training time and also want to extend my studies of Moroccan Colloquial Arabic beyond the salutations I can currently muster. My concern is whether this course would be viewed as comparable by Moroccan teaching institutions as I would not be looking to teach outside of Morocco. The International Language Lab Center in Temara also runs a similar course.
